In Super Mileage Vehicle, there are way too many variables to consider, and each year we try to gain an understanding of more and more variables. Over the summer of Sophomore year (Summer 2020), I led a team of 6 talented engineers to design a dynamometer. The idea is to understand the power output we get out of our car at different velocities, and to find the optimal engine and optimal velocity for our competition!
To clarify, we are looking for the most efficient combinations as the aim of Super Mileage Vehicle is to use the least amount of gas or electricity to travel the most miles! This dynamometer will hence work with both our electric motor as well as the gas engine!
While COVID has made it very hard for us to work together in person, we made the best of it by focusing on design. We completed this project completely virtually! Now of course we will have to wait until we can go back to the university to make it a reality. But in the meantime please enjoy the renders below! They each took too much time to render... As expected.
